Almost every major department store has a petites department with sizes
ranging from 0 to 14, thanks to the fact that the average American woman is
5-4, a petite by the industry definition.
The colors and styles are the same, but the slight differences are in the raised armholes, slimmer lapels, smaller patch pockets and narrower shoulders. In fact, many petite styles look great on taller Asian women too. Petites can wear almost anything as long as the fit is proportioned, and the details are scaled down a bit. The main goal is to create the illusion of greater height and slimmer look. Here are 12 rule-breaking tips. 1. More volume or fluff at the crown of your hair can add height. A carefully measured layers, especially near the top will give you the natural volume. 2. A necklace or earrings will help attract attention upwards to the face. 3. Wear the same color scheme from head to toe. 4. If you want to wear contrasting colors, repeat contrasting colors with at least two items like wearing a red shirt and earrings with a navy blazer. 5. Avoid bold or large horizontal stripes and designs that cuts up your figure. 6. Choose narrow horizontal stripes in low contrasting colors as in pastels. 7. Do not wear cuffed trousers. 8. Blend your hosiery and shoes to your hemline whenever possible. 9. When you wear a hat, the brim should be narrower than the shoulders. 10. Avoid bulky and stiff fabrics. 11. Wear shorter length jackets, unless you're overweight. 12. Stay away from wide belts. |
