RED alert
|
Burgundy and wine are back, but so are the luxurious reds.
A red looks great especially on Asian women, but finding the
right red is difficult. Ask a friend to verbalize the image a particular red evokes on your
lips. She will be much more reliable than a cosmetics counter person.
We like Jane's Frost Lipstick #5 Bursting Berries (for
versatile wearability), Yves Saint Laurent's Pure Matt Lipstick
#16 Red Suede (for seductively rich intensity),
Estee Lauder's All Day Lipstick in Winter Rose (for forever classy lips), Face
Stockholm's Barogue (for powerful lips), and Oil of Olay Lipstick in Satin Slip (for leftover frost with a bite).

LINING Lip liners are very much alive if you want to use red and exude power through your lips. While it may be unnecessary to be totally precise, a messy outline of red lips have no place in a professional world. For the invisible, clearly defined lip line, try lining the lips with a white pencil before applying the lip color. STAYING POWER Want lipstick to last on your lips? Apply lipstick with a lip brush, blot with one-ply facial tissue to remove surface oils, hold a fresh one-ply tissue against lips, dust loose powder on top, then reapply lipstick with a brush. PINK PERIOD Still want pink? Wear the same pink on your cheeks and lips to avoid looking dated. |
